Japan Museum SieboldHuis
Besides temporary exhibitions on topics related to Japan, the permanent collection of the Sieboldhuis offers prints, lacquerware, ceramics, fossils, herbaria, prepared animals, coins, clothing, ancient maps and hundreds of other treasures, collected in Japan between 1823 and 1829 by the physician Philipp Franz von Siebold.

Leiden University cooperates closely with the SieboldHuis and has strong ties with Japan. The university has a Japanese language and culture department and houses important Japanese collections at several academic institutions, originally brought to Leiden by Siebold or compiled by him later.

From March 28 until December 7 2025 the museum will host the temporary exhibition "Anaïs López - the Turtle and the Monk".
Museum De Lakenhal
Museum De Lakenhal is the visual arts, history and crafts museum of the city of Leiden. The museum is housed in the former Leiden Cloth Hall, a building that dates back to 1640. The collection includes highlights by old masters such as Lucas van Leyden, Rembrandt van Rijn and Jan Steen, alongside works by modern and contemporary artists such as Theo van Doesburg, Charley Toorop and Erwin Olaf. Leiden's illustrious past is covered in collection presentations such as The Siege and Relief of Leiden (1574) and Seven Centuries of Leiden Cloth.

From 12 April until 24 August 2025 the museum will host the exhibition "Floris Verster - At home in nature". Admire the lively floral still life paintings of artist Floris Verster (1861) in combination with contemporary art. An ecological perspective is used to throw a whole new light on the collection.
