We have received an overwhelming number of submissions for the new publications and it has been a difficult process having to reject so many excellent submissions. We have made the final selection with the aim to include a wide range of topics, geographical regions, methodologies, as well as BA/MA-backgrounds of the authors. To stay true to the intentions of the journal, we have mostly prioritized essays on art over other topics (such as fashion) and essays by unpublished authors over those by previously published authors. Finally, we have had to keep the audience in mind and have chosen essays in which no prior knowledge of concepts from courses is assumed – in other words, essays that are academically self-contained and accessible to a broad audience of art historians.
Now that the selections have been made, the authors are ready to get to work revising their submissions to change them from the course assignments that they initially were to academic articles. By the 30th of January, we hope to have a strong set of articles so that the BA3 students can start the review process. We are very excited to get to work on the second volume (no. 3 and 4) of Panoramic!
