PANORAMIC - THE LEIDEN ART REVIEW
For twenty years, the Art History program at Leiden University had its own journal, Decorum, written and edited by students. With the departure of the last editor, the journal ceased to exist. Now, more than 20 years later, it is time for a new journal for the program, "Panoramic: The Leiden Art Review.
Under the direction of lecturers Elizabeth den Hartog and Laura Bertens, the undergraduate course The Academic Art of Publishing is working on the composition and publication of “Panoramic: The Leiden Art Review”. This summer the first two editions will appear with essays written by our undergraduate and graduate students.
With topics such as Leonardo da Vinci, Nam June Paik, the "liberation skirt" and Ukrainian folklore, the journal gives a good overview of the diversity of education within our program. Within the new course, set up to introduce the journal as a form of education in the program, students edit pieces, write book reviews, handle cover art, the website, promotion, acquisition and organization of a final symposium. The first two editions will be available in both print and online formats by the end of May.
